China announced Xi will attend the 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO)
summit in Bishkek. Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a regular
briefing that during this year’s Bishkek summit Xi will exchange views with
participating leaders on deepening SCO cooperation across sectors and on major
international and regional issues, and will outline planning and deployment to
steer SCO’s high‑quality development and its participation in reform and
construction of the global governance system. China said it will work with
partners at the summit to consolidate consensus and support regional security,
stability and development.
