Ukraine said its armed forces struck the Norsi refinery in Russia's Volga
region, triggering a fire. The General Staff said the strike hit a large
refinery near Nizhny Novgorod and that "operations against enemy critical
targets continue." Norsi's design capacity is about 340,000 bpd, making it one
of Russia's largest refineries; it is roughly 440 km from Moscow and primarily
supplies the capital and surrounding high-demand fuel region. Ukraine said the
attack is the latest in a wave of intensified strikes on Russia's oil-processing
sector.
