Apple (AAPL.O) will hold a major product launch at 10:00 a.m. PT on Sept. 9
(01:00 Beijing time on Sept. 10), its largest event this year and the first
major launch led by CEO John Ternus. The company is expected to unveil its first
foldable iPhone, roughly passport-sized when closed and with an unfolded screen
approaching a small iPad — the largest exterior redesign in nearly 20 years.
Apple also plans iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models with faster chips, improved
battery life and substantial camera upgrades; at least the larger Pro is
expected to include a mechanical aperture. A second-generation iPhone Air and
the standard iPhone 18 are expected to be delayed until next spring. A new Apple
Watch may also debut. Tim Cook will step down as CEO and remain executive
chairman.
