The Trump administration's top trade negotiator, U.S. Trade Representative Greer, told CBC the United States should consider banning certain Canadian goods, adding a new threat to the Washington‑Ottawa trade dispute. Greer cited Canadian bans on wine and spirits, limits on types of vehicles the U.S. can export to Canada, and provincial prohibitions on procurement of some goods and services; he said the U.S. has not used such bans but that “maybe we need to do so.” Greer’s office later posted the remarks on its social media accounts.
