According to Korean media, SK Hynix is behind competitors such as Samsung Electronics in converting older NAND lines to next‑generation process nodes, keeping production‑efficiency gaps wide. As of Q2, 176‑layer NAND still accounted for just over half of SK Hynix’s NAND output, while Samsung has completed a shift to 236‑layer as its main node. Industry sources said that, unlike rivals that elevated 200‑layer products into stable mainstream production over the past year, SK Hynix’s total domestic and overseas capacity remains highly dependent on 176‑layer product.
