Reuters survey of 35 economists shows the Bank of Canada is expected to hold its policy rate at 2.25% at the Sept. 2 meeting and keep it unchanged for at least the next year. The BOC has held rates since October; July headline inflation sat at the top of the BOC’s 1–3% target while core inflation remained stable, suggesting weak demand and, together with an expected near-term economic rebound, giving the central bank room to delay hikes. All 35 economists forecast the Sept. 2 hold, consistent with market pricing; the median now sees a rise to 2.50% in Q4 next year, unchanged from July’s survey.
