SoftBank Group is seeking a $10bn two-year loan to refinance debt tied to its
investment in US AI firm OpenAI, people familiar with the matter told foreign
media. The loan would carry a spread of about 275 bps over SOFR, with Mizuho
designated as lead arranger and bookrunner. Part of the proceeds may be used to
repay a $40bn bridge loan SoftBank raised earlier this year to fund the OpenAI
stake. Commitment deadline is Aug 31 and several banks are in talks to
participate. SoftBank is also considering $10–20bn of bond issuance to help
refinance the bridge and plans a record ¥1 tln domestic retail bond offering.
