On Aug. 28 Iran president PEZESHKIAN said recent talks with Oman produced
renewed agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz under a coordinated plan, but
any reopening must be conditional on the United States fulfilling specified
obligations. He listed those obligations as lifting blockades and sanctions,
unfreezing Iranian funds and stopping Israeli hostile actions in Lebanon.
PEZESHKIAN said Iran will open the strait under its own policy, framed the move
as consistent with an Islamabad memorandum accepted by the parties, and said
Tehran is forming a common regional approach with neighbors.
