IAEA Director General Grossi said on Aug 29 that external power to the
ZAPORIZHZHIA NUCLEAR PLANT has been interrupted for more than a week and the
site is running on emergency diesel generators to maintain safety and security.
The IAEA warned that if off‑site power is not restored or diesel supplies are
not replenished soon, the plant could face a full station blackout in about 10
days. The plant reported on Aug 29 that on‑site diesel stocks are sufficient for
roughly 10 days and meet minimum regulatory requirements. The IAEA said the last
diesel delivery was in March and a planned follow‑up in May was delayed due to
frequent local military activity.
