On Aug. 29 Israel’s domestic security agency Shin Bet confirmed it had evacuated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s eldest son, Yair, and his security detail from the United States after a “significant” security threat. Yair said on Aug. 24 that Iran had “tried to assassinate one of his sons” but did not identify which son or timing; subsequent reporting named Yair as the target while living in Florida.

SK Hynix said it is open to additional investment in the US semiconductor industry but has not made any decision. The company’s CEO forecast a global memory-chip shortage lasting through end-2030. SK Hynix is scouting global sites for R&D and testing; power supply, water resources and government incentives are key selection criteria. The company said it will consider any location that can provide sufficient infrastructure and signaled it hopes to deliver further positive developments for the US AI sector.

Iranian foreign minister Araghchi wrote that Iranian intelligence shows some individuals inside the US government are heavily manipulating energy markets, using credulous media to move prices for personal gain and to keep the US president further embroiled in what he described as a doomed war. He said figures aligned with Israel are issuing optimistic assessments to promote the conflict and warned that US consumers will bear the ultimate cost.
