Senator Elizabeth Warren accused President Trump of launching the US‑Iran war
and said oil firms tied to him have profited. Democrats, citing Joint Economic
Committee data and Trump’s financial disclosures through Q2 2026, said he
continued trading oil and gas stocks during the conflict and that his disclosed
energy holdings widened from a $13–46m range at the start of the year to $17–61m
by mid‑August; the White House says Trump did not participate in the trades.
Warren highlighted corporate results: ExxonMobil posted Q2 net income above
$14.0bn, about double a year earlier, and Chevron’s Q2 profit rose roughly
fourfold from the same period in 2025 to $12.1bn. She said ending the Iran war
would lower gasoline prices.
