Tibet Communications Administration director Nima Duoji said at 18:00 on the
30th a new base station built at the front of road repairs, about 1.6 km from
Gyirong port, has established voice links with rescue teams and the signal now
reaches the core rescue site. The first emergency base station adjacent to the
border gate was commissioned at 13:30 on the 30th. Tibet telecom operators have
repaired one base station and deployed eight new stations: two between Gyirong
County and Gyirong town, and six between Gyirong town and Gyirong port.
