SK Hynix CEO Guo Luzheng said the global memory chip shortage is likely to persist through the end of 2030 and that oversupply risk is low because AI-era demand has made memory chips less of a standardized commodity. He said he sees no signs of oversupply or a pending memory downcycle as demand from AI customers remains strong. If AI demand has peaked or a new downturn occurs, he warned challenges could emerge but expects any future downcycle to be gradual — a slow demand decline or stabilization rather than a sharp fall.
