Iran’s deputy foreign minister for economic diplomacy, Gambari, told ISNA that
even foreign media concede US sanctions are unlikely to achieve Washington’s
stated goals. He said measures designed to force Iran to change policies based
on law and public opinion will not succeed, and that Iran’s main economic
sectors are already sanctioned so the latest steps do not open new target areas.
He said US effort is focused on tightening enforcement, closing evasion channels
and countering Iranian responses.
