India's National Statistical Office said GDP grew 7.8% year-on-year in the
quarter to June, above expectations, matching the Jan–Mar quarter and roughly in
line with 7.7% growth for the fiscal year to March. Authorities said oil-price
spikes and US tariffs weighed on trade with a major export destination, but on a
gross value added basis financial services, real estate and IT led with 12.1%
growth; manufacturing rose 9.2% (vs 8.3% a year earlier) and electricity, gas
and other utilities increased 8.9%.
