Shenzhen has opened public consultation on draft regulations to promote innovation in the brain–computer interface (BCI) industry. The draft requires the municipal government to incorporate BCI development into the city’s economic and social development plans and its special science and technology innovation plans, and to establish and strengthen a coordination mechanism to oversee major matters in BCI technology innovation, industrial development, sectoral applications and safety governance.
