U.S. natural gas futures rose modestly after forecasts showed temperatures running hotter-than-expected over the coming weeks, implying increased gas-fired power demand and higher air-conditioning use. Freeport LNG in Texas completed maintenance and restarted last week, pushing gas demand for LNG exports to the highest level since late June. Strong weekend production, with output near this year’s highs, may limit upward pressure on prices.

Several Iranian lawmakers have sent a joint letter to state authorities asking the central bank governor and the monetary policy decision-making apparatus to implement five measures to stabilise the foreign-exchange market and rein in inflation. They demand: (1) greater FX-market transparency — public reporting of FX resources, objectives and scale of central bank intervention, allocations by use, external FX liabilities and export proceeds repatriation; (2) a clear, time‑bound inflation-control plan with measurable steps to curb liquidity, the monetary base, excess bank borrowing and other inflation drivers so experts can evaluate progress; (3) full disclosure of banking-sector balance-sheet mismatches — which banks are affected, how funding gaps are being financed and what reform plans are planned, warning that gap-funding that expands the monetary base will be inflationary and borne by the public; (4) an end to frequent, ad hoc and unpredictable FX measures that hamper planning and foster rent-seeking, corruption and speculation; and (5) regular central bank reports detailing measures taken to defend the currency, quantitative outcomes and explanations when targets are missed. Lawmakers said currency stability directly affects purchasing power and economic security and urged the central bank to provide root-cause analysis, concrete responses and quantifiable results rather than generic explanations of market volatility.
