China's first 325,000-dwt methanol dual-fuel bulk carrier was completed and named Yuanhai Silk Road on Sept. 1 in Yangzhou, Jiangsu. The 339.9m by 62m vessel was jointly designed by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry and Shanghai Ship Design Research Institute and is fitted with the world's first shipboard digital delivery system. Builders report multiple technical breakthroughs in methanol fuel applications and cargo hold capacity more than 40% higher than conventional same-scale ore carriers.
