Bank of England data on Tuesday showed mortgage approvals for house purchases in
July totaled 56,053, the lowest since January 2024, down from 58,215 in June and
below economists' median forecast of 59,500. Consumer unsecured net lending rose
£2.006 bln ($2.71 bln) in July, versus a forecast £1.8 bln, the largest increase
since November 2025.
