On the evening of Sept. 1 local time the U.S. embassy in Qatar issued a security
alert saying Middle East tensions have left the security environment complex and
unpredictable and that an escalation is possible. It warned U.S. citizens in the
region to remain vigilant and flagged possible flight cancellations, airspace
closures and travel disruptions, advising travelers to monitor airport and
airline operations.
