Peru announced it is severing diplomatic relations with Iran, saying disruptions since March to international trade through the Strait of Hormuz have raised concerns and could affect energy prices and global supply chains. Peru also accused Iran of "inciting violence, escalating conflict in the Middle East, and obstructing the International Atomic Energy Agency's work." Peru said it will maintain consular relations under the Vienna Convention to protect its interests and citizens.
