right‑wing activist; and Defense Intelligence Agency director Jeffrey Kruse was
removed in August 2025 after a DIA assessment of an earlier Iran strike
reportedly angered the White House. Administration rationale cited DEI
disagreements and operational/intelligence disputes; the Pentagon provided no
formal explanation for several exits. The administration has moved to replace
key acquisition and space officials and to staff intelligence and service
leadership: nominees and confirmations this year include a deputy undersecretary
for acquisition and sustainment, an Air Force assistant secretary for space
procurement and integration, the Senate‑confirmed National Reconnaissance Office
