Meteorological services forecast that Typhoon Shadeer, a monsoon trough and an
incoming cold front will produce heavy to torrential rain across parts of
Jiangnan and eastern and southern South China from Sept. 2–4, with isolated
extreme downpours. Northeastern Fujian faces elevated risk of geological
disasters. Under the national contingency plan, the Ministry of Emergency
Management activated a national Level-4 geological disaster emergency response
for Fujian on Sept. 2.
