Acting Venezuelan president Delcy Rodríguez met US Energy Secretary Wright on
Sept. 2 and the two sides signed multiple oil cooperation agreements. Venezuela
and US firms including Chevron agreed to oil expansion projects. President Trump
has said the US obtained majority control of more than 65 bln barrels of
Venezuela’s proved oil reserves. Rodríguez said the pacts will run 25 years, aim
to lift crude output to 1.5 mln bpd and preserve Venezuela’s sovereign rights
over its natural resources.
