G20 members on Wednesday unanimously adopted a US‑proposed framework called the
Carolina Principles, endorsing sector‑specific, differentiated regulation for AI
and other emerging technologies. The framework calls for testing regimes to
weigh the costs of delaying deployment and for stronger public‑private
cooperation on technology trials. U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnick said the
adoption was an important win for the Trump administration and Silicon Valley;
White House tech adviser Michael Kratsios said the U.S. message was to promote
global economic growth and innovation. The principles will be submitted for
formal adoption by leaders at the G20 summit in Doral, Florida in December,
hosted by Trump.
