On Sept. 1 BYD said it employs tens of thousands of software engineers and that
AI has significantly improved efficiency in standardized coding and programming
tasks. AI is deployed across office tools and quality inspection and is being
treated as a strategic priority. BYD has invested in multiple robotics companies
and is pursuing in‑house R&D and manufacturing. It said physical AI complexity
is far higher than in autonomous driving—human motion is more diverse and
unpredictable—and that robot applications will be advanced gradually, starting
from simple scenarios.
