Escalating US‑Iran hostilities have raised concern about prolonged disruption to
shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, pushing Asian spot LNG to $25.908/MMBtu
on Wednesday evening — the highest since December 2022. The price is more than
double levels before the recent escalation; LNG has risen over 5% this week
after a period of relative calm, with higher energy costs pressuring demand and
fiscal budgets in parts of Asia.
