MOFCOM urged France to immediately stop implementing its anti-fast-fashion law,
saying the measure cloaks trade restrictions in environmental and sustainability
language, applies double standards and likely violates WTO non-discrimination
rules. Spokesperson Huang Ling said China seeks equal dialogue to resolve
disputes in sustainable textile trade and to preserve a fair, non-discriminatory
market environment for Chinese firms. Huang warned that if France proceeds,
China will take necessary measures to defend the legitimate rights of Chinese
companies and that France would bear the resulting consequences.
