President Putin said at the Eastern Economic Forum plenary that Russia is
actively engaging in Asia-Pacific investment and trade cooperation and is
willing to cooperate on an equal basis with regional partners and major
integration groups; he aims to make the Far East a hub for economic,
infrastructure, technology, talent development and social cooperation. He said
the Far East has attracted about 25 trillion rubles of fixed investment over the
past 11 years—roughly $287 billion at ~87 RUB/USD—and that investment activity
and industrial and construction growth have exceeded national averages, with
regional GDP more than doubling.
