Tesla (TSLA.O) has begun offering rides in a two-seat Cybercab without a steering wheel or pedals in a "limited area" around Austin, Texas. The U.S. auto safety regulator NHTSA said it is in communication with Tesla and is assessing the situation, and declined to provide further details. NHTSA is responsible for setting and enforcing vehicle safety rules, including oversight of new models. CEO Elon Musk has said the Cybercab is central to Tesla’s bid to lead in driverless vehicles.

Fed Governor Waller said short-term intervention measures have limited effect.

On Sept. 3 at NIO's Q2 2026 earnings media call, co‑founder and president Qin Lihong said the market should focus on the company's "resolve." He said while some firms chase new market‑cap narratives and technology fads, NIO is actively embracing AI and prioritizing investment in foundational capabilities and organizational reform. Qin added that over the past year NIO has heavily invested in building an AI‑native organization, using AI to empower business and drive concurrent changes in organizational structure, and that these investments will convert into sustained improvements in organizational and operational efficiency.
