In Anhui, Quanchai Power said a 2.5T diesel-hybrid engine developed with Chery
is awaiting tests in its semi-anechoic lab. Quanchai vice general manager and
head of the technical research institute Yu Lei said production lines are being
debugged and volume production will begin in October. The engine, China’s first
mass-production 2.5T diesel-hybrid dedicated unit, achieved first ignition in
September 2025 and will be fitted to Chery’s Weilin pickup for initial launch in
Australia and New Zealand, with plans for wider global rollout.
