On Sept. 4, U.S. officials said the military launched a large-scale leak
investigation after highly sensitive classified information on its advanced
weapons inventory was disclosed by the media. Dozens, including some of the most
senior officers and personnel from U.S. Central Command and other combatant
commands, underwent polygraph examinations this summer. Investigators briefly
feared a possible foreign-intelligence mole because access to the inventory was
tightly limited; sources say no one failed the polygraph questions used to
determine whether they had leaked to the media. Trump is reported to be angry
about the disclosures.
