On Sept. 5, the National Commission for Disaster Reduction and the Ministry of
Emergency Management raised Fujian province’s national natural disaster relief
emergency response to level three after typhoon and extreme heavy rainfall
caused severe damage in Putian and Ningde. They dispatched additional
disaster-relief teams to the affected areas to assess damage and to guide and
assist local authorities with basic living support and post-disaster emergency
recovery.
