Putin said he has ordered a pause in strikes on Kyiv for the next three days, saying Ukraine has sharply reduced attacks on Russian territory and that Moscow has not struck Kyiv since midnight.

Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis announced a €2.2bln (about $2.56bln) economic support package for 2027 to ease cost-of-living pressures. Measures focus on the self-employed, pensioners, farmers and large families and include raising the minimum wage from €920 to €1,000 effective January 2028. Authorities say the 2026 budget is expected to again exceed targets, providing headroom for subsidies and tax cuts; the government says the measures will not jeopardize public finances and will comply with EU budget rules.

Heavy rains have caused flooding in parts of Jiangxi, including Nanchang and Ji'an. On Sept. 5 the National Commission for Disaster Reduction and the Ministry of Emergency Management activated a national level-4 disaster emergency response. Citing the national natural disaster relief emergency plan and provincial damage assessments, the National Development and Reform Commission urgently allocated 20 mln yuan of central budget investment to support Jiangxi’s post-flood emergency restoration, prioritizing repairs to damaged roads and water-conservancy infrastructure and emergency reconstruction of schools, hospitals and other public-service facilities to restore normal production and living order.
