Ryabkov said the Aug. 2025 Russia–US leaders' meeting in Anchorage and subsequent events show doubts persist over whether Washington can keep its stance within a rational framework and resist pressure from circumstances and parties opposed to mediation; those issues remain unresolved.

State news agency reported an IRGC deputy navy political officer said that during the 10 days ending Aug. 30 Iranian naval forces 'punished' 2–5 'violating' vessels each night in the Strait of Hormuz, and asserted U.S. strikes have 'not in the slightest' disrupted Iran's control of the area.
