Emerging-market equities rose on Monday as optimism about next‑generation AI
models lifted index‑heavy technology names, offsetting pressure from higher oil.
The MSCI Emerging Markets Index climbed as much as 1.4% to its highest level
since June 26; South Korea’s KOSPI jumped 4%. An EM currency index gained 0.1%,
its 12th advance in 13 sessions. Attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz
pushed oil higher, and stronger US nonfarm payrolls increased bets on earlier
Fed tightening, leaving most other sector subindexes lower.
