Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zakharova said on the 7th the US deployment of MK-41 missile launchers to Norway is another NATO move that seriously destabilizes the situation. She said the MK-41 can launch multi-role missiles against land and sea targets and can fire "Tomahawk" long-range cruise missiles, and that deployment in Norway allows coverage of large swathes of Russia, including Moscow. Zakharova said US deployment of land-based intermediate- and short-range missiles in Europe threatens Russia and "undermines the basis for constructive US‑Russia strategic dialogue."

EUR/JPY fell 0.8% to 179.97, its lowest level since August.
