U.S. strikes on Sept. 1 in southern Iran struck a wedding in Hormozgan province, causing heavy casualties, the Washington Post reported on Sept. 6, citing U.S. officials and sources. A U.S. official said the intended target was a communications facility; sources said a small communications tower sat roughly 134 meters from the wedding. U.S. aircraft dropped six bombs on the tower and one appears to have deviated from the target.
