Bloomberg reported Sept. 7 that Malaysia is inclined to use Huawei AI chips to
power a sovereign AI project, despite U.S. warnings. Malaysian officials are
evaluating Huawei hardware as the core of an roughly 2 bln ringgit (≈3.32 bln
yuan) plan meant to boost domestic control over national data; sources said the
eventual procurement volume is unclear. If adopted, Malaysia would be the first
known foreign government to formally select Chinese AI chips over U.S. products.
