TrendForce said in its latest industry survey that global smartphone production
in Q2 2026 reached 275 million units, down 8% YoY but outperforming earlier
forecasts. The firm cited two drivers: consumer front-loading driven by fears
that sustained memory-chip price increases will push device prices higher in
2027, and inventory replenishment by brands that had cut production amid earlier
memory-cost spikes. TrendForce raised its 2026 full-year production forecast to
1.07 billion units from 1.05 billion, narrowing the expected YoY decline from
16% to 14%.
