China A-shares closed lower: Shanghai Composite -0.43%, Shenzhen Composite Index -0.77%, ChiNext -0.49%, Beijing 50 index -2.81%. Market liquidity weakened further as turnover fell below CNY2.0 trillion for a fourth session to CNY1.65 trillion, down CNY208.5 billion from the prior day; over 4,400 stocks fell. Grain and liquor sectors led declines — COFCO Sugar hit limit-down while Huazi Industrial, Shenliang Holdings and Baolingbao plunged. Planting and forestry stocks were weak; Hainan Rubber hit limit-down, and Yasheng Group, Nongfa Seed and Wanxiang Denong tumbled. Banks traded higher, led by Ningbo Bank, Nanjing Bank and Jiangsu Bank. Travel and consumer names outperformed: Guilin Tourism posted a fourth straight limit-up and Nanning Department Store hit limit-up.

The Saudi-led coalition said on Sept. 9 Houthi forces used ballistic missiles and drones to strike the southern Saudi cities of Khamis Mushayt, Abha and Jizan. Earlier the Houthis said Saudi warplanes carried out dozens of airstrikes across Marib, Jawf and Taiz provinces in Yemen.
