Turkey's central bank left its one-week policy rate at 37% on Thursday, the MPC
led by Governor Karahan said, in line with a survey of 19 analysts. Headline
inflation slowed to 31.5% YoY in August, which had supported expectations of a
near-term cut, but escalating Iran–US tensions around the Strait of Hormuz
pushed Brent above $100/bbl on Wednesday and prompted policymakers to adopt a
more cautious stance.
