OPEC monthly report raised its 2027 forecast for demand for OPEC crude to 43.9 mln b/d, about 1.6 mln b/d higher than its 2026 forecast.

Norway's prime minister said on Sept. 9 that a drone nearly struck the plane carrying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on a flight from Moldova to Oslo, but did not disclose the source or how close the drone came. Zelenskiy arrived in Oslo on Sept. 8 and attended the funeral of the late King Harald V on Sept. 9; Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented.

David Samra, a major shareholder in Novartis (NVS.N), urged a board overhaul to improve governance, saying the company's acquisition record has been "disappointing" and pressing chairman Giovanni Caforio to act. Samra said the board should replace or upgrade the team responsible for deals, calling their performance at best "mediocre." His demand follows Tuesday's late-stage trial failure of a muscular dystrophy candidate from Novartis's $12bn acquisition of US firm Avidity, which sent the stock down more than 10% and wiped nearly $30bn off market value. Results for the heart drug pelacarsen disappointed investors the previous day.
