OpenAI is ending a GSA pilot that let federal agencies access its models for $1 per year and will move to usage-based pricing, the U.S. General Services Administration said. Federal employees will receive a 50% discount off standard pricing. OpenAI joined the GSA OneGov marketplace in August; the initial $1-per-year term negotiated in first-year talks was the largest technology discount in GSA history. GSA said about 3.5 million federal employees used ChatGPT during the pilot, generating $1.4 billion in cost savings.
