Israeli military radio said the Israeli military will use firepower to control the Arita Shihir Heights in southern Lebanon and will strike any Hezbollah attempt to return there.

At midday close, China’s main futures were mixed. Shanghai silver futures slid more than 5%; lithium carbonate fell nearly 5%; platinum dropped about 4%. Synthetic rubber, coking coal, ethylene glycol (EG), Shanghai tin, palladium, coke, red dates and Shanghai zinc each declined over 3%. On the upside, Shanghai crude (SC) rose nearly 6%; fuel oil gained over 4%; low-sulfur fuel oil (LU) was up about 4%; container-shipping Europe-route futures advanced more than 3%.

EIA: U.S. refinery net crude inputs in the latest week rose to the highest level since August 2019.
