On the afternoon of Sept. 12 in New Delhi, Chinese President Xi Jinping attended
the first-phase session of the 18th BRICS leaders' meeting. Xi said global
realignment is accelerating, the Global South is strengthening and multipolarity
is irreversible. He warned unilateralism and power politics are resurging,
putting multilateralism and the international order under pressure, and said
deficits in peace, development, security and governance are growing. He urged
BRICS to take a principled stance, lead the international order toward a more
just and reasonable direction, and jointly promote building a community with a
shared future for humankind.
