Iran will present reopening of the Strait of Hormuz as a regional collective
solution and will meet Gulf state representatives in Oman next Monday to discuss
next steps, foreign ministry spokesman Baghaei said. Tehran seeks to assign the
strait's future management to regional actors. Iran and Oman have agreed on a
temporary shipping corridor through the strait, short-term clearance of sea
mines and to define next steps for managing navigation. Parties also appear to
agree that GCC states bordering or adjacent to the strait will participate in a
proposed solution.
