Speaking at the first session of the BRICS leaders’ 18th summit in New Delhi on
Sept. 12, Xi said the situation in the Middle East Gulf remains complex and the
conflict has caused severe losses and undermines international interests. He
offered a four-point proposal to de-escalate, halt hostilities and advance
political talks, called for a permanent comprehensive ceasefire, and said China
is willing to work with BRICS members to help restore peace and stability in the
Gulf region.
