At the BRICS summit, Iran president Pezeshkian said economic resilience rests on
security and warned that no single power center has the right to determine other
countries' destinies. He said unilateral sanctions now extend beyond economics
to directly affect food security and public welfare, and urged BRICS to expand
trade in local currencies and strengthen the New Development Bank to boost
members' resilience. Citing US and Israeli military actions against Iran, he
warned that attacks on a country's economy, energy and development
infrastructure produce regional and global spillovers and said the Iranian
people have borne a heavy cost.
