Former CIA officer David J. Lash, charged with inflating pay via false
declarations and stealing public funds, has reached an interim plea agreement
with federal prosecutors because the case involves substantial classified
material. Prosecutors and Lash’s lawyers filed a joint court document on the
10th but did not disclose the agreement’s terms. A federal judge on the 11th
extended the deadline to formally indict Lash to Oct. 8 to give parties time to
finalize a deal; both sides said a public trial would be highly complex given
the classified evidence.
